Less is More #278

Hello!

This week at Less is More we have a sketch for you to try.  I think that I dread sketches more than one layer weeks!

I am not very creative with sketches but came up with two designs.  The first one features a heart in a very literal interpretation of the sketch - see, I said that I wasn't very creative with sketches :)

I used an old hearts stencil in spun sugar distress ink to create a background and combined that with a heart die cut and sentiment from Simon Says Stamp.

Next up I made only my second or third Christmas card of the year!  I used a stag die from WPlus9 in silver mirri against a snowfall style patterned paper.  A few rhinestones and silver embossed sentiment finish the design.

Hopefully I have proved that this sketch can be used for all seasons!  I am sure that you can come up with more creative designs than me :)  The rest of the DT have lots of different ideas to share with you over at the Less is More blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Uniko Challenge Reminder

Hello!

We currently have a challenge at Uniko where we are focusing on masculine cards with an optional twist of Father's Day.  Here is my reminder card:

It is a really simple design that I made for my youngest when he finished his exams!  I die cut a star and put some patterned paper behind it and combined with one of my favourite Uniko sentiments from All Occasion Sentiments #2.  A few enamel dots finish the card.

I love this crisp colour combo which is one that I think works well for male cards.

You have until 10 June to play along with us at Uniko.  The DT have more inspiration for you over at Uniko and you can check out the prizes while you are there too!

Thanks for stopping by,

Uniko Challenge #32

Hello!

It is time for our next challenge over at Uniko Studio and this month we are looking for masculine style designs with an optional twist of Fathers Day.  As Fathers Day is in June I have made a card that I am sure I will be using in the next few weeks.

I love this nautical stamp from Uniko and it is perfect for mens cards.  I inked the bottom edge of the card with a variety of blue inks and placed the yacht on a calm sea.  The compass stamp and sentiment finish the simple one layer design.

I hope you play along with us at Uniko this month - the challenge is open until 10 June so there is plenty of time to join in.  The DT have more great inspiration for you over at the Uniko blog and we are joined by the lovely Tanja from Little Art Cottage as our GD this month.

Thanks for stopping by :)

Less is More #277

Hello!

We are hoping that this week's challenge at Less is More will go with a bang as we are looking for pops/bangs on your cards.  To be honest, I struggled with this one a bit and could only really think of balloons!  Then I thought of a pop of colour....

I used some sweet MFT lightbulb stamps and masked one and inked through a sunburst stencil (Clarity) to create a pop of colour.

Next up I decided to use an image of a penguin popping out of a cake for another take on 'pop'.  The sweet image is from Create a Smile.  The central panel is popped up over some patterned paper.

Finally I did go with my first idea of balloons.  The dies are from Simon Says and I inked through a starry background stencil in pale blue to add a bit of interest.  The sentiment is from Simon Says too.

I hope that these 3 different interpretations of this week's challenge give you some ideas too.  I am sure that there are lots more ways of featuring pops/bangs that I have not thought of!  The fab DT have lots of other ideas to share over at Less is More.

Thanks as always for stopping by :)

Less is More #276

Hello!

Another week has hurtled by and I am woefully behind on all things crafty....the sunshine has lured me outside to try and drag the garden in to some kind of respectable order but with the return of cloudy skies I hope to get creative this weekend!  At least I have managed to make some cards for this week's challenge at Less is More where we are all at sea and making one layer cards to boot.....

I had fun with this one.  Here is what I made:

I used a shark fin and sentiment from Avery Elle for this card and simply inked through a circle aperture.

I used the same circle aperture for this card but used a more traditional image from Waltzingmouse.  I like the way that the ship extends beyond the aperture and looks like it is sailing out of it!

This is the first card that I made before remembering that it was one layer week but thought I would share it with you anyway!  I love this whale and coloured him with pencils.  I inked the central panel and added a few hearts to go with the sentiment.

I hope you will find yourself all at sea this week too!  Check out the fab inspiration from the talented DT over at Less is More :)

Thanks for stopping by!

Less is More #275

Hello!

Good to see you again for another challenge at Less is More where we are asking to see pastel colours on your designs.  I thought that I was going to struggle with this one as I tend to prefer bolder colours but I ended up making a few cards.....fittingly they are all birthday cards as this weekend we are wishing our lovely teamie, Anita a VERY Happy Birthday :)

I used the watercolour flower stamps from Altenew and stamped them in soft pinks and greens.  The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp.

I stamped a lace border stamp from Waltzingmouse Stamps in light blue and pink to create a background on the card base.  An angled panel on top of that features the sentiment (Waltzingmouse) and a few MFT die cut butterflies.

A simple final card where I have white embossed a butterfly stamp from Waltzingmouse and inked over that in tumbled glass distress ink.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I hope you like these pastel cards and get the chance to play along with us this week.  The DT have lots more great inspiration to share with you over at Less is More.

Thank you for stopping by,
