Mixing it up with Uniko

Hello,

I wanted to share a mdf stand that I have decorated with Uniko stamps, stencils, acrylic paints and inks for more of a mixed media effect:

I painted the mdf with Dylusions paints and then lifted some of the colour through Uniko's lattice stencil with a wet wipe.  I then created a shadow effect by going back over the lattice with blue paint.  The stamps are from the Happy Succulents set, Bee Happy and Spring Botanicals Daffodil.  I added highlights with a white paint marker and touches of yellow paint on the bees.

I shall link up at Simon's Wednesday Challenge where we are creating anything but a card.

I sell these mdf stands in my Folksy shop - they are a great way of creating small, freestanding artworks for around your house or as gifts without the extra effort of framing them.  You can move them where you want whenever you want :)

I hope you like the different look that I have created with Uniko's products :)

Thanks for stopping by, Sarah x

Creative Cogs

Hello!

I have been playing with some more of my mdf elements this weekend and, in particular, the cogs which are now in my Folksy store. I used them on my art board stand to create this:

I painted everything with black gesso and used my grid stencil with black texture paste on the mdf base.  I then used a combination of acrylic paints and sprays in coppers, browns and greens to create the rusty metallic look on the base.  Similarly with the cogs, I embossed them in a range of rusty looking powders to create a textured, weathered look and adhered to the mdf stand.  I stamped and embossed in copper a few of the smaller moths from Visible Image and a sentiment in a green patina effect powder from Stamplorations.  I also highlighted the letters in a few old metal eyelets and embossed them with the same powder.

I shall link up at the Mixed Media Monthly Challenge where the challenge for March is to use a stencil and at least 3 mediums.

I will also link up at the Anything Mixed Media Challenge over at Mixed Media World.

Here are the cogs and stencil that I used from my Folksy store.

Thank you for stopping by!

Uniko Release Day!

Hello!

Finally, release day at Uniko has arrived and hopefully you have arrived as part of our release blog hop.  It is a bumper release with 5 new stencils and 6 stamp sets.  I have had so much fun playing with these new designs and here are a few more examples of what I have made:

First up I have used the Balloon Bash stencil and done some shaded inking with distress oxides.  I then overlaid them with the star stencil.  The sentiment is from Birthday Sentiments.

On this card I decided to try some no line watercolouring on the lovely daffodil using aquamarkers.

This is a print that I pulled from the chrysanthemum stencil on my gelli plate.

Here is a print that I pulled of the Seeing Stars stencil from the gelli plate.  I combined it with one of my mdf stars painted in grey/blue and embossed the sentiment from Birthday Sentiments in copper.

Finally I used one of my mdf art boards to create a spring themed decoration.  I painted the stand in white and added texture in the background before painting in blues and greens.  The daffodils were watercoloured and fussy cut and I added the lovely sentiment which makes me smile.

I shall link this project up at Simon's Monday Challenge which is In My Garden

I hope this post has given you lots of ideas for ways to use these fab new products....thank you for sticking with me :)  Sarah P will have more inspiration for you over on her blog and you can start from the beginning at Uniko.

See you again soon,

Sarah x

Craft Stamper Take It Make It Challenge

Hello!

I am popping in with a project for the February Take It, Make It challenge at Craft Stamper.  I used one of Trish Latimer's fabulous WordGirl stamps - available in her Etsy shop and one of my mdf art boards which are for sale in my Folksy shop.

I primed the mdf with white gesso and then applied some dylusions paints with a brayer before layering up with my mandala stencil and some stencilled stars.  I knocked the colour back a bit with some white paint and then stamped some Stamploration stamps in archival black to add grungy elements.  The stream of stars is from Uniko.  I stamped the girl on some watercolour card that I had coloured with Pixie Powders and then added further colour with watercolour pencils and highlights with a white paint pen.

I hope you like it!

Thanks for stopping by,
