Lots of Buttons

Hello!

Well, I didn't get the crafty time that I was hoping for this weekend.  Between a cinema party for my eldest's 11th birthday and visiting my parents for Mother's Day....I kind of ran out of time :)

However, I always like to play along with the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge which, this week is to add buttons to your card.  I don't often add buttons as embellishments - I love pearls, gems, twine etc but never seem to get round to adding buttons.  However, I still seem to have loads of them!

Rather than adding a button to my card, I have used a button stamp from the Hero Arts, Not Perfect set to create a background:

I used a dress form die from Spellbinders cut out several times from text paper and stacked up.  It is covered with glossy accents but that doesn't really show up here.  The dress form is stuck on to an oval die cut from pink vellum with some 'messy' gold thread behind it.  It needed the vellum as the dress form was lost against the button background.   The sentiment is from Hero Arts, OWH Year Round Sentiments set.

I hope that having a button background will work for the SSS challenge!

I hope that you had a good weekend.  See you soon :)

Spring Birthday

Hello!

Thank goodness it is the weekend :)  Hopefully I will find some time to get crafty....

Here is a spring birthday card that I made using a lovely floral set from Papertrey Inks.  I drew round an oval die cut to position my stamping and then popped the die cut up with a vellum butterfly which I had white embossed with Hero Arts Leafy Vines (one of my fave stamps!).  I finished the card with a sentiment from Hero Arts Messages with Flourish set.

I don't often use pastel tones but I think I like them on this card.....

I hope you have a great weekend!

Bye for now, Sarah x

Happy Place

Hello!

Just a quick post to share a card that I made at the weekend - still playing with watercolour backgrounds.  I white embossed Hero Arts Starburst Lace and used distress stains to create the background.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts Heyday Sentiments.

I hope you like it!

Hello Spring

Hello!

With the spring weather that we have been enjoying over the past few weeks it seemed like a good idea to join in with the 8th challenge from Uniko Studio - Hello Spring.  The colours that Bev has chosen are just gorgeous.  Here is the first card that I made:

I watercoloured some paper with Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters distress inks and white embossed the wonderful chrysanthemum stamps before die cutting them.  I shaded round the flowers with some ink to add depth and added a border with some circle stamps from Round in Circles - they are very versatile.

I liked the fresh blues and greens so much that I made a second card using the Bright Butterflies set:

I added some Wink of Stella to the butterflies for a bit of extra glimmer!

As there are 3 butterflies on this card I can enter it in to this week's Less is More Challenge to use three things along with Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge to use glitter.

I hope you like them and that you are seeing a bit of spring wherever you are :)

By for now, Sarah x

Glittery Hello

Hello!

I hope you are having a great weekend - I was meant to be sorting out the garden but it has been too wet so I have been able to play in my craft room instead.  Yay :)  I always check out the Less is More Challenge on a Saturday and this week it is to use 3 of something on your card.  Here is what I made:

I used 3 balloons stamped using Hero Art's Be Happy Today set and a die cut hello from Papertrey Ink cut from glitter card.  The balloons are glazed with glossy accents.  I used some Memory Box cloud dies as a stencil with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.

As the die cut hello is from glitter card I can also play along with Simon Says Stamps Wednesday Challenge - Glitter It.

The downside of it being a dull day is that I couldn't get any decent light for a photo but I hope you like it!

Bye for now,

Blush

Hello.

I have made a really simple card to play along with this week's CASology challenge where the cue word is Blush.  I love these panda stamps from There She Goes and thought this cute bear looks sweet and bashful.

Just a short post tonight - thank goodness its the weekend :)

Thanks for your visit!

Be Yourself

I am loving the cute sheep from Hero Art's Missing You set and decided to do a bit of paper piecing with them to play along with the current challenge at A Blog Named Hero.  I just love the expression on their faces - they look like I feel!

I combined my pink polka dot sheep with a sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and used patterned papers for the hill and clouds.  I'm not that great at putting patterned papers together so using them in small pieces on a card like this works better for me.  The polka dot sheep has been blinged up with wink of stella and I have added glossy accents to their eyes.

Apologies for the strange angle on this card....the light was really poor and I got into all sorts of contortions to try and get a decent picture :)

I hope you like my fun card - I promise that my next card will not feature sheep!

Thanks for your visit to my new blog - I am really enjoying playing around with it.  See you again soon,

Ewe Are 40

Hello Again :)

Today I wanted to share a card that I have made for my sister in law's birthday using a combination of Hero Arts stamps.  I love using background stamps to build a scene...in this card I masked the fab Tiny Flags stamp to create the hill, Tiny Inkspots are in the sky and Magical Background on the clouds.  The sweet sheep from the Missing You set are coloured with Wink of Stella.  I die cut the 40 with Memory Box dies and popped up over glitter cardstock.

I hope today's card makes you smile...

Thank you for your visit and for your lovely comments!

Hello!

I have been wanting to start a blog to share my stamping and cardmaking efforts for some time and have finally decided to give it a go....fingers crossed :)

Here is the first card that I want to share which I made to play along with this week's Less Is More Challenge to use stencils/masks.

There are so many fantastic stencils about at the moment and I am using them a lot for backgrounds - the recent Stenciled Online Card Class had some great techniques!  The stencil on this card is Honeycomb by Memory Box which I have inked through with Tumbled Glass and Shabby Shutters Distress Inks.  I have die cut this Memory Box Prim Poppy die approx. 4  times and stuck them together for some dimension.  Coloured with Promarkers and used Glossy Accents to give them a glaze.  The sentiment is from Hero Arts - Good Friends.

Thank you so much for your visit - if you have any tips or hints for a newbie blogger they would be much appreciated!

Bye for now, Sarah x
