Here we are in July already. It has been a very wet and chilly week in the UK so I am hoping that July brings the return of some sunshine. We are back today with our latest challenge at Less is More which is to use colours from a country's flag:
Quite predictably my first card features the colours of the union jack - blue and white with just a touch of red:
I stamped some hearts from Waltzingmouse Stamps repeatedly across the top of the card in navy ink and combined it with a sentiment from Altenew. A little red heart creates a pop of contrast. I will also link up at Simon's Wednesday Challenge where it is Anything Goes.
I then decided to remove red from the mix and just focus on the blue and white of the Scottish flag.
This simply features some patterned paper combined with a die from Waltzingmouse and a sentiment stamp and die from Papertrey Ink. I thought this would work well for a masculine birthday card. I will link this one up at Time Out where the theme is celebrations with the optional twist of one layer.
The rest of the DT have other fab designs to share with you over at Less is More. And, as we are at the start of the new month we have a new sponsor - the wonderful Happy Little Stampers.
I look forward to seeing which flag you choose to take inspiration from :)
Thanks for stopping by,
These are fab, Sarah! Your first one is such a great design with the little stitched-effect hearts falling from the top of the page and the single red heart adding "pop". Your second card is fantastic with the check background and interesting die cut panel. It's got so much visual interest yet is still clean and spacious in layout - gorgeous! Have a great weekend xReplyDelete
A CAS spectacular duo as always Sarah and love the design of that first one with the little stitched hearts and the teeny pop of red. Classy and fun, then I'm impressed with your Scottish interpretation too and that's a perfect design paper from your stash. Have a good weekend. xReplyDelete
These are just perfect inspiration. Your designs are so fresh!ReplyDelete
Love how you used two different flags, Sarah. Blue is my favourite colour. Love the colours and designs of your cards. So clever to add the tiny red heart in your first card. Have a wonderful weekend and week.ReplyDelete
OMG ! I love your two cards ! Love these tiny cross stitch blue hearts design and the beautiful touch with this single red heart ! A gorgeous design ! And this Scottish design is just a treat ! You had the perfect pattern paper and you perfectly used it ! So, so beautiful ! Have a nice Sunday and have a fabulous week ! xReplyDelete
Love how you got both the Union Jack and St Andrew's flags in for your cards Sarah. I'm in awe of your patience in stamping all those little hearts on your first card, but boy was it worth it! They look amazing. Using the tartan on the second card made me smile because that is so apt. And that Papertrey Ink die is totally lush! Fabulous. xxReplyDelete
Using the little heart on your first card is so clever and the effect is amazing. Love both your cards.ReplyDelete
Two brilliant fabulous cards, love where you got the inspiration from.ReplyDelete
Thank you for joining us at Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.
Oooh, and oooooh! Loving these two. Those little stitched hearts are adorable and I love this little cascade design with the single red heart. And a great idea to use the Scottish flag too. The paper is perfect, a great layout and those punched out die cut designs add such great interest xxReplyDelete
