Home Sweet Home

Hello!

We are having a miserable, wet weekend here so I have treated myself to a few hours in my craft room which is just what I need to recharge the batteries after a busy week :)

I have made a big decision to leave my job at the end of the summer and return to being a full time student in the autumn.....it has taken a lot of time to reach that decision and I am so relieved now that I have finally made up my mind!  The prospect of spending a year focusing on the boys and my own development is really exciting although it means that we will have to make lots of changes as a family with one less income coming in.  It will definitely mean that I can spend less money on craft supplies but I have so much already it will just encourage me to be more creative with what I have :)  I am very lucky to have such a supportive family to enable me to take this time out....

Anyway, all of this soul searching has been very much about family and home so I had to play along with this week's one layer challenge at Less Is More where the theme is Home.  Here is what I came up with:

I used my new Reverse Confetti stamps - The Buzz to stamp this sweet beehive and coloured in with Spectrum Noir pencils.  The sentiment is from Avery Elle.  I like how this simple scene turned out :)

I also made two cards for the latest Muse Christmas Visions.  I used a similar layout as the fab design from Chris Blagrave but went with kraft and white for my design:

I really liked the offset wreath and the bold sentiment so that is what I focused on.  I coloured the wreaths in with white pencil and the white sentiment is die cut from glitter card although that doesn't show up well here.

Here is the original card from Chriss which is so crisp and fresh - I hope you can see how I was inspired!

I will also link up at the Holiday theme at Addicted to Stamps.

Thanks for stopping by - sorry it is such a long post!

I'm so glad to hear that you're returning to school! I did the same thing when my kids were young, and spent 12 years (part time, of course) as a homemaker/student. You'll get through the year for sure, and more time with the boys is such a gift! I wish you the very best in your new academic adventure!!!

I do love your sweet take on the Home challenge and embossing in white on Kraft is something I have always loved and works perfectly for the Muse.

  22. Doesn't it feel so much better when you finally make up your mind!!! I think all the too-ing and fro-ing makes things so much worse. How wonderful going back to school and bet the family will love having you around more and not in work mode. Your home card is so sweet, love the little bee hive. Its too cold for bee's at the moment here, miss seeing them in my garden. And love your white and kraft xmas card. Its super simple and gorgeous!
