New Stamps Release Day!

Hello!

I am delighted to confirm that our five new stamp sets are now available to purchase and, even better, there is 10% off everything in store this weekend to celebrate :)

We are also doing a release day blog hop - each member of the DT have inspirational cards to share with you - and every comment you leave will increase your chances of winning the entire release.  You can find links to their blogs at the bottom of this post.

However, here are a few cards that I have created with the new stamps:

I used some of the images from Cattitude to create this card.  I stamped the main cat and masked her off before inking a strip along the bottom of the card in Lucky Clover Distress Oxide.  I then laid our Dotty Grid stencil over the top to give the look of a carpet.  I stamped the gentleman cat, masked him off and inked the large thought bubble from our Say What stencil.  The cats are coloured with Polychromos pencils.

This card features Cupcake Crazy.  I stamped, watercoloured and cut the cupcake out and laid it over a stencilled background using our Sunray stencil

Finally I used Funky Florals and Happy Words.  The floral cluster was gold heat embossed and then masked off before I inked our Funky Circles stencil.  I watercoloured the flowers and used a sentiment from Happy Words.

I hope that you like this trio of cards and the new stamp sets:

Introducing Funky Florals

Hello!

Welcome back to our final day of introductions to the new stamps that we are releasing tomorrow.  This set is called Funky Florals and is an A5 set.  I have loved working with it - the flowers are so versatile and remind me of henna tattoo style art.

Here are some of the cards that I have made:

I stamped and masked off the large flower cluster before inking through our Watercolour Lines stencil.   I coloured the cluster in with pencils, added a sentiment from the Serenity stamp set and some black splatters.  I shall link up at Simon's Wednesday Challenge where Anything Goes.

I stamped and masked the flowers and leaves in different colours to create a border along the bottom of a panel of white cardstock before adding a sentiment from our new Happy words set.

I shall link this card up at Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge which is to use your favourite technique.  I love masking stamps - although a simple technique I think that it is a really effective way of adding depth to a single layer.

The wonderful DT have also been creating more inspiring makes with this set - check out their designs here:

I hope that you like this new set:

We will be having a release day blog hop tomorrow and one lucky person will be in with a chance of winning the whole release of all 5 sets so I hope that you visit again!

Introducing Cattitude

Hello!

**I just wanted to start by confirming that we are open for business - I run Funky Fossil from home - cutting and packing orders myself.  As long as the post office remains open we can still dispatch orders.  Your custom means a lot to me!**

I am back again today with another new stamp set that will be released on Saturday, 28 March.  It is another set that features illustrations by the talented Kimma Parish and it is full of cool cats!  I have had so much fun playing with this set :)

Here are two of the cards that I have made:

I stamped the playful cat three times and watercoloured him in different shades.  I completed the circle with the little pawprint stamp from the set and added the sentiment in the middle.

I think that the next cat is a bit of a diva so I have put her in the spotlight (which is a new stencil that you can find in store now).  A bit of shading around the edge and the fun sentiment complete this card.

I shall link up at Simon's Wednesday Challenge where Anything Goes.

I can't wait for you to see the fab cards that the rest of the DT have come up with.  You can check out their designs here:

It will be available to buy on Saturday but, in the meantime, we have our final stamp set to showcase tomorrow so I hope to see you again then x

Introducing Happy Words and Distressed Elements

Hello!

**I just wanted to start by confirming that we are open for business - I run Funky Fossil from home - cutting and packing orders myself.  As long as the post office remains open we can still dispatch orders.  Your custom means a lot to me!**

This is our second day of posts introducing the new stamp sets that will be available to purchase from www.funkyfossil.co.uk on Saturday, 28 March.  Check yesterday's post here.

Today we are showcasing two A6 sets - Happy Words and Distressed Elements.  They are great for adding sentiments or detail to your designs.  The sentiment words are big enough to make a good focal point too which is what I have done with this card:

I simply repeat stamped the Happy across a panel of white cardstock in Versafine Clair inks and made a circle topper to go in the centre of the card.  Super simple but really bright and bold!

I have used the sentiment set here with the Distressed Elements which are perfect for adding texture and grungy detail to a card design:

I simply inked a piece of cardstock with Antique Linen and used stencils - Ornate Mandala and Treadplate in greys and browns before stamping the Distressed Elements around the edge.  The main sentiment is heat embossed in Wow Copper embossing powder to add a metallic touch.

I hope that you like these stamp sets - they make great additions to your existing collections and you can never have too many happy words in the current circumstances!

Our amazing DT have lots more inspirations to share with these two stamp sets - check out what they have been up to here:

Introducing Cupcake Crazy

Hello!

**I just wanted to start by confirming that we are open for business - I run Funky Fossil from home - cutting and packing orders myself.  As long as the post office remains open we can still dispatch orders.  Your custom means a lot to me!**

We are sharing our new stamp release which will be available to purchase from Saturday, 28 March.  As always it is an eclectic collection of stamp sets which offer a mix of quirky, abstract and elegant designs - I am very excited about them!  Today's set was designed by Kimma Parish from Le Petite Market.  We love her illustrations :)

Cupcake Crazy is great for lots of occasions - it is a fun and celebratory stamp set.  Here are a couple of cards that I have made with images from the set:

I coloured two of the cupcakes in and cut them out - paper piecing the wrapper.  The background is made using our Lots of Hearts stencil.

I watercoloured this cupcake and used a glimmer pen on the icing along with glossy accents on the heart.  I cut it out and combined it with a stencilled background using our Bunting and Banners stencil.

I shall link this card up at Time Out where they are celebrating their 6th birthday - it is such a fab challenge - congrats to Sandie and the wonderful DT :)

Scribble Roses

Hello!

Just popping by with a few cards made using our new Scribble Rose stencil.  It is a really fun and easy stencil to use.

First up I used it with glitter paste on a watercoloured background as a base for the large butterfly from our Butterfly Wishes stamp set which I had coloured with polychromos:

I shall link this card up at Simon's Monday Challenge where the theme this week is stencil fun.

I also wanted to make a more CAS card and masked off a strip which I inked lightly with Tumbled Glass.  I inked the roses in light blue before moving the stencil and using embossing ink through it and heat embossing with a pink/red colour.  Obviously make sure that the distress ink has dried before doing this so that the embossing powder doesn't stick where it is not supposed to!

I shall link this card up at the current challenge over at CAS Stencils where the theme this month is heat embossing.

I hope you like this new stencil!

Dragons

Hello!

I hope that you and your families are staying well and safe during this difficult time.  It is heartening to see so many crafters supporting each other online - we are lucky to have such a caring creative community!   As a small online business it means a lot to know that you are out there :)

I wanted to share a few dragon themed cards that I have made this week using our new Dragon Silhouettes stencil and Dragon Scales.

I used Andy Skinner lava paste through the stencil, heated it to create the texture and then painted/dry brushed to create the colour.  I cut him out and placed him over an ink blended background.  The stamp is from our Adventure stamp set.

I shall link this card up at Inkspirational where we are featuring animals - real or magical.

I used the other dragon silhouette from the stencil in the same way on this card:

I added it to a background made using our Dragon Scales stencil.  The texture that the lava paste creates is awesome!

I hope you like these mythical makes.  Here are the products that I used:

You can buy them in store at www.funkyfossil.co.uk.

See you again soon!

Day of the Month Card Club

Hello!

Day of the Month Card Club is celebrating its first birthday!  I love the idea behind the challenge and this month the theme is National Puppy Day so lots of opportunities to feature adorable furry friends on our card designs!

Funky Fossil is one of the sponsors celebrating the challenge's first birthday and this is the card that I made to play along:

Of course, I had to use our Pugs and Hugs set for this challenge!  I coloured him in polychromos and added our Splatter stencil in the background of this CAS design.

I hope that you like it and take time to play along at Day of the Month.  The challenge is open until 31 March so there is plenty of time to get involved and win a prize!

Here are the products that I used to make this card:

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful

Hello!

Happy International Women's Day to you :)  I am delighted to be a participant and sponsor of this year's Women's Day blog hop which has been organised by an amazing team of talented women.  This is the second year of the hop and it looks set to be a fun and creativity filled event with lots of sponsors and inspiration along the way.

Funky Fossil is one of the sponsors - you can win a £15 voucher to spend in store!

We have so many stamps and stencils that would work for the theme 'Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful' but in the end I decided to use our Abstract Beauty stamp set to make this card:

I simply created a background by blending distress oxides and lightly inking over our Fierce Words stencil.  Stamped the image in black and used our Butterfly Flurry stencil with black paint.  I added some word stickers by Leonie Pujol and a strip of black cardstock at the bottom and the card was done!

I hope that you like it and that you enjoy the hop.  Jane's Doodles is the next stop to visit and if you have got lost or want to start from the beginning, head here for the full list....

Retro Style

Hello!

I hope that your week is going well :)  Today I have two different cards to share with our recently released mid century modern inspired stencils.  One is very CAS and the other packs a punch with its full pattern.

First up is a card that was inspired by the photo over at Time Out.  I was struck by the colour combo and retro style shapes of the furniture:

I used our Retro Pattern Builder stencils to create this CAS design.  As I have tried to leave a lot of white space I will also link up at AAA Cards where the challenge is to go as minimal as possible!

For my second card I have gone full on retro with the Retro Rectangles Stencil.  By offsetting it slightly when inking it gives a slightly 3D appearance.  I have added a large birthday sentiment to offset the strong pattern:

I shall link up at Seize the Birthday where the theme is to focus on the sentiment.

I hope that you like these retro stencils!

AAA Birthday Challenge

Hello!

The beginning of the month brings a new challenge at AAA Birthdays and this month we are asking you to feature flowers on your birthday cards.  Who knows, spring may even be just around the corner?!

I used our Floral Honeycomb stencil on this card by inking through it in Fossilised Amber and going over that layer with clear texture paste in to which I sprinkled some gold glitter.  I inked the stencil a second time on another piece of card with coloured inks for the floral elements and cut them out.  The are stuck on the main panel with foam tape for dimension.

I like the cheery blue and yellow colour combo!

I hope that you can play along with us this month.  Flowers always work for birthday cards at any time of year :)

Here is the stencil that I used:
