CAS Butterfly

Hello!

I hope you have had a good weekend and that is has included the chance to get crafty :)  I have been working on a number of crafty projects recently but wanted to take the time to play along with my lovely friends at Less is More this weekend.  The theme this week is Take Flight so I decided to use a new Sizzix butterfly die:

I inked up some card stock in a range of distress inks from Blueprint Sketch through to Cracked Pistachio and die cute the ornate butterfly.  I created a white frame and popped it up over a border inked with the same colours as the butterfly.  I decided not to add a sentiment to the card so that I can use it for any occasion.   I love the soft floaty feel that the butterfly gives!  I shall also link this card up to Simon's Wednesday Challenge where the theme is Clean and Simple.

I have also made a start on christmas card making.  I recently bought the lovely ribbon sentiment from Clarity which is big enough for a focal point and even more excitingly I was able to embellish the card with mdf snowflake embellishments that we had made ourselves!  Hubby and I recently got a laser cutting machine and are having lots of fun cutting and experimenting with what we can make.

I gold embossed the sentiment and gold embossed the snowflake embellishments several times to give them a metallic look.

I am also selling the mdf snowflakes in my folksy store if you are looking for some embellishments for your christmas crafting :)

Thanks for stopping by,

Sarah x

  1. Great to see you playing along, Sarah! Your new butterfly die is a stunner, so elegant and delicate, wow! I love the clean look of your card, great idea to leave the sentiment out. Your Christmas card then... Having an own laser cutting machine sounds like a lot of fun! I've been admiring this Christmas sentiment stamp around blogland and it's on my wishlist... Love the dark purple base card with the golden embossing! Thanks for joining us at Less Is More!

  2. It looks like curves are the thing for your cards today, Sarah. That butterfly is amazing and so is the Christmas sentiment. Not that I know anything about them, but a laser cutter sounds fantastic. I can't wait to see what else you make with it because your snowflakes are incredible.
