Happy Accidents with Alcohol!

Hello!

I mean alcohol inks of course :)  I was playing around with my alcohol inks at the weekend and getting frustrated - I never seem to be able to get a look that I like.  It may be my preference for CAS that makes the inks just too unpredictable for me!  Anyway, I accidently got a few drops on a piece of gloss card and liked the way it spread out so I tried making a few backgrounds by dropping the inks with some blending solution.

I embossed and cut out the gorgeous new Hummingbird stamp from Uniko Studios on vellum as I thought that my inky background gave the impression of a blurry background created by the bird hovering....

I will join up with Uniko's current challenge as it is using a similar colour palette....also I will link up with Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge to use clear elements on our cards as the hummingbird is stamped on vellum.  Finally, and very belatedly I will link up with the lovely Darnell's birthday party as I am sure she will appreciate a card made using NBUS!

Here is a second card with a bit more green and gold in it:

I can't decide which I like more - what do you think?

I hope you are looking forward to a lovely weekend :)

Thanks for stopping by!

  3. Great inky backgrounds, Sarah! I love how this technique is unpredictable and magical as the inks and blending solution merge on the glossy paper! You never know what you're going to get. I also love that you made a vellum "Hitler" to star on your cards!! Thank you so much for joining in over at Ardyth's linky party and for your sweet birthday wishes!! (I also love the title of your post!!!) Mwah! Darnell

  5. What an amazing accident!! I especially love your first card with the silver embossing, its absolutely gorgeous! I'm making very CAS cards at the moment (my latest ones have so much white card, I'm worried I'll end up only blank ones one day!!) so I would really struggle with this technique but its totally worth it.

  9. LOVE your inky backgrounds, Sarah! I think they both turned out amazing, and your vellum hummingbirds are gorgeous...and your designs are still CAS!!! I'm leaning toward the first one as my fave, but I really do love both cards!
