Time Out Challenge #16

Hello!

Happy Thursday to you :)  Today is the start of our next challenge at Time Out which, this time is to CASE a beautiful card from Heather Telford. 

 

Heather is such an amazing card designer and I love her designs for Penny Black. I am always so impressed by her use of colour, composition and watercolour!  In this card I was particularly taken with the leaves, autumn colours and die cut sentiment.

Here is what I made:

I have gone for a CAS look using some of my favourite autumn colours - Rusty Hinge, Aged Mahogany and Seedless Preserve.  I inked this lovely maple stamp from Clarity Stamps with a combination of these colours and combined with a die cut sentiment from My Favourite Things which is stacked up on several layers.

ABNH and More

Hello!

I am popping in today to let you know that it is my solo post over at A Blog Named Hero where we have a fab collaboration with Lawn Fawn :)

I love Lawn Fawn and their cute papers, stamps and dies.  I have been particularly playing with the recently released Monster Mash set.  Here is a sneak peak of one of the cards I am sharing over at ABNH:

Mentioning Simon Says Stamp, I have made a card to play along with the third challenge on their Flickr Group hosted by the talented Barb Engler.  The challenge this time is to make a tag or feature one on your card.  Here is what I came up with:

The tag die is from Waltzingmouse Stamps, the sentiment is from SSS Apothecary Labels and the stencil is SSS too.  The stars are stamped from the SSS Birthday Balloons set in Hero Arts Wet Cement and Navy.

I will also enter it in to the current challenge at Addicted to CAS where the code word is stencil.  I love my stencils and am sure that I will play along again before it closes :)  By the way, I was delighted to be picked as a winner from the last challenge - thank you so much!

Finally from me, I have also made a card that I am going to enter in to Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge to feature transportation.....in my case it is a broom :)  This card can also play along with the current colour challenge and theme over at The Card Concept.

The witch is from Hero Arts You Scare Me, the fab sentiment is from Mama Elephant as is the die cut city scape.

Christmas Crystals

I hope your weekend has been a fun one.  There were so much fantastic inspiration around blogland yesterday for WCMD that I almost feel hungover!

I haven't had much chance to make cards today but do have another festive creation to share with you.....I have never made this many Christmas cards in September and October before!  Now that I have got my Christmas stamps out it is proving difficult to stop and I am loving the Handmade for Christmas release from Hero Arts.  I just got a few of the sets from Make the Day Special and wanted to ink up the fab Christmas Crystals set:

 

 

I am a sucker for bauble stamps anyway but think these ornaments look so cool and draw on the geometric trend as well.  All I have done here is silver embossed them on to vellum, added some WoS and pierced lines to give the impression of them hanging down the card.  I combined them with a sentiment from Hero Arts Decorate Your Holidays which is silver embossed as well.  A strip of silver glitter tape and some glittery dots to finish. 

 

I will link my card up at the current Hero Arts Holiday Challenge under the White Out and Mad About Metallics categories.  I will also link up at A2Z Scrapbooking's October Challenge to use 2 or more 'hard' HA products on your card and as this is a fairly CAS design I will also make this my second entry in to Virginia's View Challenge.  Finally, I will join in with the challenge at Keep It Simple which is to use three of something on your project....phew :)

Happy WCMD!

Hello!

I hope you are having a fab World Cardmaking Day.  I have done no housework in honour of this auspicious occasion and just spent the afternoon making cards!  To be honest I needed a bit of playtime after a full on week which has included a sick child, broken car and stress at work :(

Here is a card made with the cool robin from the fab new Waltzingmouse Stamps release:

I coloured him with promarkers and popped him up against a masked panel of snowflakes stamped in HA Tide Pool.  The die cut is from Li'l Inkers and I have stacked that up on 3 or 4 layers for some added dimension.  I added WoS to the robin's heart and the sentiment but you can't really see it in the photo.

I will link this card up at Inkspirational Challenges where the theme is beverages/drinks as the robin is enjoying a hot drink!  I will also link up with Waltzingmouse Fanatics new challenge where Anything Goes.  I am so delighted to have been picked as No 1 Fan from the last challenge - thanks Tara and Deborah!  This is also my second entry at Merry Mondays where the challenge is to use stripes and/or dots and the robin has a little striped candy cane :)

While I was being all festive I have made a card to play along at A2Z Scrapbooking who have had a few challenges to celebrate WCMD.  I absolutely love the aqua, white and silver colour combo for the first challenge:

Here is my card:

I white embossed a HA snowflake on to vellum and layered on top of a die cut circle inked with Tide Pool.  The HA sentiment is embossed in silver with a silver dot at the centre of the snowflake. 

I will also link up at the current holiday challenge over at Hero Arts.  There are a couple of categories and I will add this to Mad About Metallics with the touches of silver.  Finally I will play along with the fab challenge at Virginia's View which is focused on Clean and Simple this month....I will definitely be joining up again!

I'm off to enjoy all of the WCMD inspiration around blogland :)

Word Play!

Hello!

Thank goodness it is Friday eve - another week survived.  I am looking forward to half term break already but we have got another 3 weeks to go.....

I am trying to get cards made for as many challenges as possible - although for every challenge I enter there is another one that I miss!

Here is another card for this week's Less is More challenge, Mostly Words which I made playing with Altenew's Label Love set:

This is a masculine birthday card stamped in Hero Arts Navy and Wet Cement.  I simply stamped the labels from the Altenew set in to a sort of grid and filled the gaps with little stamps and icons from other sets.  I popped up the second Happy Birthday on foam pads and coated it in glossy accents.  This was a quick card to make but I like the effect :)  It was fun trying to work out how to fit all of the sentiments together.

Whilst I had the Altenew set out I combined it with Hero Arts Starburst Lace and Tiny Ink Dots to make this card:

This card is actually a remake as I had white embossed the lace stamp and watercoloured with distress inks but it looked rubbish so I die cut it with a circle die to lose the messy watercolour around the outside and used it popped up on foam pads instead.  The tiny ink dots and navy sentiment add a bit of contrast with the pale blues of the lace.  At least I saved it from the bin :)  I can also join this up with A2Z Scrapbooking's October challenge to use 2 or more Hero Arts 'hard' supplies (stamps, stencils etc) on your project.  The challenge is open for the whole month so there is plenty of time to play along.

Time Out Challenge #15 Reminder

Hello!

Can you believe that we are half way through the current challenge at Time Out?  The challenge is to use stamping on your project with the optional twist of 'apples'.

Here is my card:

 

I thought of the saying 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' as the basis for making a get well card!

I white embossed the spotty apple from Clearly Besotted Stamps on to green cardstock and used an Avery Elle die to create the curved corner on the kraft panel.  The green apple has been die cut and stacked up 4 or 5 times to give it some dimension, glittered with a bit of WoS and glazed.  A sentiment from Paper Smooches and some twine to finish off.

Christmas Cards

Hello!

Happy Wednesday - I hope your week is going well :)

Just a quick post from me with a few Christmas cards that I have made to add to my supplies - I feel very organised this year!

This card is for Merry Monday's Challenge to use stripes, polka dots or both on your card.  I have used both with a dotty sentiment from Hero Arts and a stripy stencil from Simon Says Stamp.  My current favourite Lawn Fawn stitched rectangle die and some holly leaves to finish. 

Next up I have made a second card for Waltzingmouse Fanatics current challenge to make a Christmas card:

I used the lovely mistletoe stamp and die from Waltzingmouse's Festive Foliage.  I watercoloured the mistletoe, glazed the berries and tied with twine.  I stamped the pine cones on kraft to add some interest to the background panel.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.  I like the rustic look of this card :)
